Managing Consultation Templates

Consultation templates are managed by administrators and define the standard structure for common consultation types.

How to Get There

Navigate to Configuration > Consultation Templates.

Template List

The template list shows two tabs:

  • Practice Templates - custom templates created by your organisation
  • System Templates - pre-built templates provided by the platform (read-only)

Each template shows its name, category, status, and creation/modification dates.

Template Statuses

Templates follow a lifecycle:

Status Meaning
Draft Being built or edited, not available for use
Published Active and available in the consultation template picker
Archived No longer available for new consultations

Creating a Template

  1. Click Create to open the template builder
  2. Set the template name and category
  3. Define which observations, procedures, social history items, and comments the template should include
  4. Save as a draft
  5. Click Publish when the template is ready for use

Template Actions

  • Clone - copy a template (including system templates) to create a customisable version
  • Publish - make a draft template available for use
  • Archive - retire a published template without deleting it
  • Edit - modify a draft template

System Templates

System templates are provided by the platform and cannot be edited directly. To customise one, Clone it to create a practice-level copy, then edit the clone.

Tip: Start by cloning system templates and adjusting them to your practice's workflow. This gives you a solid foundation without building from scratch.
