The Investigations section shows lab orders placed for the patient and their results as they come back.
Open a patient record and navigate to Clinical Record > Investigations.
Lab orders track the lifecycle of a test request:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ordered | Order created |
| Sample collected | The sample has been taken from the patient |
| Sent to lab | The order/sample has been sent to the lab |
| Cancelled | The order was cancelled |
Click a lab order to view its details, including the tests ordered, the ordering clinician, and the date.
When results arrive, they appear with:
For results that are tracked over time (e.g. HbA1c, cholesterol, eGFR), click the Trend button to view a chart of historical values. This helps identify patterns and monitor treatment effectiveness.
Tip: Check the abnormal flag column first when reviewing results. Abnormal values are highlighted to draw your attention to results that need clinical action.
