Using Consultation Templates

Consultation templates pre-fill clinical sections with standard observations, procedures, and prompts, saving time on common consultation types.

How to Apply a Template

  1. In the Clinical Record step, click Use Template
  2. Browse or search the available templates
  3. Select a template to preview what it will fill in
  4. Click Apply to insert the template data into the consultation

Template Categories

Templates are organised into categories:

  • Acute - for new presentations and acute conditions
  • Chronic Review - for ongoing condition management reviews
  • Preventive - for health checks and screening consultations
  • Mental Health - for mental health assessments and reviews

What Templates Fill In

A template can pre-populate:

  • Observations - standard vital signs and measurements for this type of consultation
  • Procedures - procedures typically performed
  • Social history - relevant social history prompts
  • Allergies - allergy check prompts
  • Comments - clinical assessment frameworks or checklists
  • Previous values - if the patient has prior observations of the same type, the most recent values are shown automatically for comparison

After Applying

Once applied, the template data appears in the relevant Record sections. You can:

  • Edit any pre-filled values
  • Remove sections that are not relevant
  • Add additional documentation as needed

The template is a starting point, not a constraint.

Tip: For chronic disease reviews, templates with previous values are especially useful. You can see the patient's last recorded observations alongside the fields for today's values, making it easy to track trends.
