How to Include a Booking Link in a Patient Message

Last updated: 24 February 2026

You can include a booking link in a patient message so they can schedule an appointment at a time that suits them — no phone call needed.

Steps

  1. Open the message composer (see How to Send a Patient a Message)
  2. Click the +Appointment button in the toolbar
  3. Configure the booking options:
    • Appointment types — select which types the patient can choose from
    • Clinicians — optionally restrict to specific clinicians
    • Locations — optionally restrict to specific locations
  4. Click Confirm to attach the booking link

A booking block appears in your message showing "Book an appointment".

What the Patient Sees

When the patient clicks the secure link:

  1. They verify their email address
  2. A booking calendar opens showing available slots (filtered by your restrictions)
  3. They select a date, time, and appointment type
  4. They confirm the booking

The appointment is created in Jump automatically — it appears in your schedule and the patient receives a confirmation.

Tips

  • If you don't restrict clinicians or locations, the patient sees all available slots across your organisation
  • You can combine a booking link with documents and a questionnaire in the same message
  • This is great for follow-ups: send a message after a consultation with a booking link for their next visit
  • Booking links respect your existing schedule and availability settings — patients can only book into open slots
