Understanding the Sidebar

Last updated: 2 September 2026

The sidebar is your main navigation panel. It's always visible on the left side of the screen and is organised into four sections.

The top section contains links to the core pages:

Page What it does
Dashboard Overview of your day — quick actions, diary, and tasks
Inbox Patient messages and episodes that need attention
Calendar Your appointment schedule (day, weekday, and week views)
Tasks Tasks assigned to you or your team
Filing Documents and lab results waiting to be reviewed and filed

Inbox, Tasks, and Filing show a count when there are items that need your attention. Open the dropdown at the top of the sidebar to see them as coloured chips: Inbox and Filing are violet, and Tasks is amber.

Patient Section

Below the main navigation, the Patient section shows the currently focused patient. When a patient is selected, you'll see their name, date of birth, and an avatar with their initials.

Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on the patient card to:

  • View all patients — open the Patients page
  • Add patient — create a new patient record

When a patient is already in focus, two more appear:

  • Switch patient — search for and select a different patient
  • Clear patient — deselect the current patient

Consulting Room

The Consulting Room section shows your active consultation, if you have one. Click here to start a new consultation or return to one in progress.

At the bottom of the sidebar you'll find:

  • Organisation switcher — if you belong to more than one organisation, switch between them here
  • Help & support — the question-mark button opens the Help Hub, where the News tab lists the latest features and improvements, alongside search, your messages and the article library.
