ScanCom Imaging Referrals

ScanCom is an integration for booking imaging referrals (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasound, etc.) directly from the patient record.

How to Get There

  • The ScanCom referral popover opens as a draggable window

Two Tabs

  • Create - start a new imaging referral
  • History - view past ScanCom referrals with their status

Creating an Imaging Referral

The creation flow has several steps:

  1. Patient Information - pre-filled from the patient record (name, DOB, email, address, phone, gender). Review and correct if needed
  2. Modality - select the type of imaging (e.g. X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound)
  3. Body Part - choose which body part to image
  4. Safety Questions - answer screening questions that vary based on the selected modality and patient information (e.g. pregnancy, implants, contrast allergies)
  5. Imaging Provider - select from available imaging providers
  6. Time Slot - choose an available appointment time

Referral Statuses

Managing Referrals

From the History tab or the ScanCom referrals table:

  • Submit Referral - send a draft referral to the provider
  • View Booking Link - open the booking confirmation in a new tab
  • Cancel Referral - cancel with a confirmation dialog

The referrals table shows: Date, Modality, Body Parts, Priority, and Status.

Tip: Ensure the patient's contact details and address are up to date before creating a ScanCom referral. The imaging provider uses these details for appointment communications.
