Features · Home visits

Home visits, booked online - blocked when they're too far to reach.

Give a clinician a home base, turn on Home visit as a delivery mode on the appointment types you choose, and patients book it like any other appointment. A travel buffer holds the diary steady either side, and a distance limit you set blocks the booking automatically before an address that's too far away ever reaches the calendar.

How it works

From a home base to a blocked (or booked) address.

Four steps, in the order they happen. You set the base, the delivery mode and the buffer once; after that, the distance check runs on its own, every time.

Step 1

Set a home base and turn on home visits for the clinician

Each clinician who does home visits gets a Home base - a deliberately chosen starting point, not an address inferred from anywhere. Switching on "Does this clinician provide home visits?" reveals the address search; switching it off clears the base.

Step 2

Offer Home visit as a delivery mode on the types you choose

Delivery is set per appointment type, alongside In-person, Video and Phone. Turn on Home visit for the types that make sense - a same-day acute call-out, a post-op check, a palliative review - and patients see it as a booking option next to your other modes.

Step 3

Reserve travel time with a buffer built for visits

Give visit bookings their own buffer before and after, separate from your ordinary turnaround time - or set an exact override on a single booking when a visit needs more. The buffer blocks the surrounding diary time exactly like any other buffer, so the slot either side stays protected.

Step 4

Patients book online - and out-of-range addresses are blocked

When a patient chooses Home visit, they confirm the address next. Set a maximum distance in miles on the appointment type, and Jump checks it against the clinician's home base as a straight-line distance before the booking can go ahead. Too far, and online booking is blocked with a message to choose another clinician or contact the practice - your team can still book it manually, with an override warning instead of a block.

  1. 01Home base per clinicianA deliberately-set starting point, not inferred from anywhere - geocoded once when it's saved.
  2. 02Home visit as a delivery modeTurned on per appointment type, alongside in-person, video and phone.
  3. 03Visit-specific travel buffersA separate before/after buffer for visit bookings, inherited from the standard buffer unless you override it.
  4. 04Per-booking buffer overrideReserve more (or less) travel time on one specific visit without changing the appointment type.
  5. 05Maximum visit distanceA mile limit set per appointment type. Leave it blank and there is no limit.
  6. 06Straight-line distance checkCalculated from the clinician's home base to the patient's address at the point of booking.
  7. 07Hard block for online bookingA patient booking themselves can't confirm an out-of-range address - they're pointed to another clinician or the practice, with no waitlist.
  8. 08Override-able for staffThe same distance shows as a warning, not a block, when your team books a visit on a patient's behalf.
  9. 09Conservative multi-clinician matchingWhere more than one clinician could take the visit, an address is only blocked once every one of them is out of range.
  10. 10Dedicated address stepPatients confirm the visit address after choosing Home visit, kept separate from your clinic locations.
  11. 11Calendar visibilityHome visits show on the diary and filter alongside your other delivery modes.
  12. 12Visit-aware confirmations and remindersBooking and reminder messages say a clinician is visiting the patient, not the other way round.

Connections

Home visits work because the rest of the diary feeds them.

Nothing here is a bolt-on integration - it's the same appointment type, calendar and messaging your practice already runs on.

Built in
Appointment types

Home visit is a delivery mode on the type - the same fee and questions, with its own buffer and distance overrides.

Built in
Calendar & diary

Home visits show on the diary and filter like any other delivery mode.

A setting on the ones you choose. Home visit is a delivery mode on the appointment type, alongside in-person, video and phone, so an existing type - a same-day call-out, a post-op check, a palliative review - can be offered as a home visit without creating anything new.
