How does Jump stop a patient booking a visit that's too far away?

You set a maximum distance in miles on the appointment type. At booking, Jump works out the straight-line distance between the patient's address and the clinician's home base and blocks the booking if it's over the limit - the patient is told to choose another clinician or contact the practice directly, no waitlist. It's a straight-line distance, not a driving-time estimate.

What happens if a clinician doesn't have a home base set?

There's no home base to check against, so nothing is blocked for that clinician. If you want the distance limit enforced, set a home base for every clinician who does home visits first - it's a one-off, deliberately-entered starting point (the practice, a station, wherever they set off from), not an address inferred from anywhere.

Can my team override the distance check for a particular patient?

Yes, for staff. Booking a home visit on a patient's behalf from the calendar shows the same distance as a warning rather than a block, so your team can knowingly send a clinician further when it's the right call. Patients booking online can't override it themselves.

Does a home visit reserve extra time in the diary for travel?

Yes, if you set it up that way. Give the appointment type its own before/after buffer for visit bookings, separate from your normal in-clinic turnaround, or override the buffer on one specific booking when a visit needs more. It reserves the surrounding diary time exactly like any other buffer - it doesn't calculate live travel time between addresses.
