Patient portal

A patient portal is a secure, patient-facing area, usually accessed online, where patients can view parts of their record, complete questionnaires, book appointments, message the practice or pay invoices.

The portal's value depends on how well it connects to the clinical workflow behind it. A questionnaire completed through a portal is most useful when it reaches the clinician and can become part of the record automatically, rather than needing to be re-entered.
