Electronic prescribing (e-prescribing)
Electronic prescribing is the process of generating, checking and issuing a prescription digitally, typically within the clinical system rather than on a paper pad or in a separate application.
Where prescribing sits inside the same system as the clinical record, the clinician can see relevant allergies, current medications and history at the point of prescribing, and the resulting prescription becomes part of the patient's longitudinal record automatically.
